ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- The mayor of Albany says officials are looking for ways to clamp down on unruly teenagers after violence marred a holiday event in the southwest Georgia city.
Police stopped the city's annual fireworks celebration on July 4 after several fights broke out, and authorities are blaming most of the violence on unsupervised teenagers.
Mayor Dorothy Hubbard tells WALB-TV that city officials and police are now working on a plan to make sure youth are better supervised at future events.
Hubbard says the city will demand that parents stay with their teenagers and control them from now on.
No one was hurt in the violence, but police made a few arrests. About 85 officers were assigned to the event.
