PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) -- The Georgia restaurant executive who purchased 4,500 acres of land from Callaway Gardens says he will probably lease the acreage for hunting.

Waffle House chief executive Joe Rodgers Jr. tells the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer he doesn't hunt deer or turkey, but he will probably lease the land to those who do. He says he doesn't plan to develop it at all.

Rodgers says he bought the land mainly as a timber investment.

Callaway Gardens is still trying to sell another 2,500 of its 13,000 acres at Pine Mountain. Chairman and chief executive Edward Callaway says the land sales will get the resort's debt to a manageable level.

The 60-year-old resort once drew 1 million visitors annually in west Georgia, but attendance was about 400,000 last summer.
