JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) -- A man is charged with fabricating an account of a sniper targeting Clayton County school buses, prompting a massive police response.
Jonesboro police said Codarrius Rayshun Brewer of Hampton was arrested after admitting that he made up the incident. He was charged with making a false report and obstruction. A phone listing for Brewer could not be located. It was unclear whether he had an attorney.
Police initially said a witness on May 14 saw a man aiming a rifle at a school bus. The witness claimed to have chased off the man.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that police now say Brewer placed the rifle and a note near the backyard fence.
More than 75 police officers were assigned to the case.
