SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- A battalion of Army Rangers based in Savannah is getting a new commander who's no stranger to the elite unit.

Lt. Col. Robert Harman was scheduled to take command of the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment during a ceremony Wednesday. The unit is based at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah.

Harman comes to Georgia from Pennsylvania, where he was most recently assigned to the U.S. Army War College. Still, he's got roots with the Rangers. Harman previously served as the Savannah unit's battalion liaison officer and as its executive officer.

He replaces Col. Michael Foster, who has commanded the Ranger battalion since March 2010. Foster is heading to the Army War College before assuming his new command of the 173rd Airborne Brigade based in Italy.
