GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A boater facing a homicide charge in a deadly collision on Lake Lanier faces his first court appearance.
The Times of Gainesville reports that 44-year-old Paul J. Bennett of Cumming is scheduled to appear Monday in Hall County Magistrate court.
A Hall County grand jury last week indicted Bennett in connection with the June 18 collision that killed 13-year-old Griffin Prince and his 9-year-old brother, Jake, both of Buford. He's charged with first-degree homicide by vessel, boating under the influence and refusing to surrender aid.
Authorities say Griffin Prince's body was found several days after Bennett's fishing boat collided with a pontoon boat the boy and his family members were aboard. Jake Prince died at the scene.
Bennett's attorney, Barry Zimmerman, could not immediately be reached early Monday.
