FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Fayette County authorities are investigating the shooting death that left a 44-year-old woman dead on her front porch.
Sheriff's spokesman Brent Rowan tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the woman and her 78-year-old grandmother may have interrupted a burglary at their residence on Bohannon Road north Fayette just before the shooting on Friday.
WSB-TV reports that when the women arrived at the home, they heard someone inside and backed away.
Police believe someone then fired a shot from a nearby vehicle.
Rowan says no one was injured and investigators remain at the scene.
