COVINGTON, Ga. (AP) - Federal agents and local police say they're hunting for a pair of fugitives believed to be armed with knives and guns and hiding in woods somewhere in Newton County.

James Joyner, a supervisor with the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, tells WSB Radio that both men have survival skills and are either avid hunters or campers.

The Newton Daily Citizen reports that authorities are seeking the public's help in the search for the men, who are wanted on child sex offense charges.

A Newton County sheriff's alert on the case says both men are aware that they're wanted, and one of them has vowed that he will not go back to jail. Authorities say the men may have a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck with Georgia tags.
