ATLANTA (AP) - One of the South's oldest music halls is preparing to reopen after a major renovation to shore up its floor and revamp its concert hall.
The building that houses the Crimson Moon Cafe was built around 1858, after gold miners helped to carve Dahlonega from the mountain landscape in north Georgia. Historians say it's the oldest surviving commercial building on the square in the town about 60 miles north of Atlanta.
Its owners closed the building and canceled some concerts earlier this month, so they could repair the floor and make other improvements.
Plans call for concerts to continue when the building reopens later this month, with a slightly smaller seating capacity of around 85 for shows and other upgrades designed to retain the building's history and its intimate feel.
