BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) - A Brunswick man facing the death penalty for the slayings of six people killed inside a mobile home has been denied a pretrial review by the Georgia Supreme Court.

The Brunswick News reports the decision clears the way for a Glynn County Superior Court judge to schedule a trial for Guy Heinze Jr. He's charged with fatally bludgeoning his father and seven others inside the mobile home they shared in August 2009.

District Attorney Jackie Johnson says she hopes Heinze will stand trial by the end of the year.

Heinze's defense attorneys appealed to the Georgia Supreme Court in November after the trial judge refused to throw out statements Heinze made to police. The judge also rejected a challenge to the makeup of the grand jury that indicted him.
