SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Two men have been convicted in an armed robbery case that led to a standoff in the Olde Pink House restaurant in Savannah and disrupted downtown traffic for hours last year.
A jury Monday night convicted 27-year-old Kevin Dale Brooks and 24-year-old Brian Jones of charges including armed robbery and false imprisonment stemming from the May incident.
The Savannah Morning News reports that jurors also acquitted both men on an aggravated assault charge. And the jury acquitted Brooks on a kidnapping charge.
Police said an earlier robbery led to the three-hour standoff at the landmark restaurant, when they say Brooks ran inside after the earlier crimes. A SWAT team was called to the restaurant after authorities said a gunman jumped from a Jaguar and barricaded himself inside the business.
