DALTON, Ga. (AP) - A northwest Georgia man has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing three children.
Monte Gale Salyer, a former Dalton State College professor, appeared in Whitfield County Superior Court Thursday and heard statements from the victims' parents. He was convicted of three counts of child molestation, two counts of aggravated child molestation and a count of statutory rape. The Dalton Daily Citizen reports Salyer met two of his victims at church.
District Attorney Bert Poston says 59-year-old Salyer would be eligible for parole after 30 years and his attorney, Jim Meaney, says he is unsure of whether Salyer will file an appeal.
