150-pound pig up for adoption at Macon-Bibb animal shelter

150-pound pig needs a home

Macon-Bibb Animal control found a pot-bellied pig wandering around Payne City last week, so they picked it up.

The big girl is about 150 pounds and she's a bit of a handful.

This isn't like a dog or a cat -- the pig weighs as much as some full-grown adults.

Cson Johnson says they would really like to place the pig with a rescue group or a farm where this type of an animal can run around.

"And a lot of people that have expressed an interest in adopting, they want to know if she's good with other pigs or good with dogs, and there is no way for us to know that and it's not safe here to put her with other animals and endanger either one of them," said Johnson.

Johnson says they have reached out to a few pig rescue groups throughout the state and so far they haven't found a space.
