After almost nine months of searching, the 21st Century Partnership in Warner Robins has hired a new Deputy Director, Stacy Campbell.
Executive Director, Dan Penny, stepped into his position with the 21st Century Partnership in August.
"It was like drinking out of a firehose," Penny said. "Except this time, I had two fire hoses -- one in one ear, and then my mouth -- and I was trying to do both of those jobs at the same time. It was very difficult to do."
That's why Penny says, Campbell was hired as Penny's second in command. Penny says Campbell accepted the job on Monday.
"Her primary duty is to be a fundraiser and a marketing director," Penny said.
In July, Campbell resigned from her position as the Director of Marketing and Media Relations at the Georgia National Fairgrounds.
"That's what I was told," Penny said. "There was a 136-page report and that there was no evidence of wrongdoing on anybody's part."
Earlier this year, a state report said Campbell, and the fairgrounds' former director Ransom Moore, were drinking wine on the property after hours, which is a violation of state rules. It also said Moore gave Campbell leave time that she wasn't entitled to.
"Stacy stood out to me because of the financing things that she had done, the fundraising, and the energy that she puts behind her job and every day that she's working," Penny said. "That energy is evident."
Penny says Campbell will start work next Monday.
"I think it's important we go back out there, and we start telling people we haven't lost anything, and we're picking up where we left off," Penny said. "Let's see if we can't do some good."
Penny says Campbell was chosen from among three finalists due to her experience with marketing and grant writing.
