Friday afternoon, as the light went up, performers came out, as volunteers began assembling the main stage for the 8th annual Perry Music Festival.
"It's all free, we have plenty of food vendors, and alcohol vendors and all," says organizer Carl Lumpkin.
Lumpkin says their theme for the festival is "Unity in the Community." It's a theme they came up with years ago.
"We're trying to get people to work together and stay together and worship and everything together," says Lumpkin.
With 11 bands, countless vendors, and even some activities for kids, Lumpkin says you won't want to miss Saturday's celebration.
"It's very entertaining for the city, and it's very entertaining for a nice weekend out in Perry," says Lumpkin.
The music festival begins Saturday at noon at Rotary Centennial Park in Perry.
