After almost 20 years of planning, Kings Park residents are getting are finally getting a community center.
The center is replacing two older houses that had been donated to the county.
Now, a new building stands in its place.
The project cost around $300,000, funded by the Blight Remediation Program.
Walking inside, you'll find a large assembly room that will be used for community meetings, a kitchen area, and a computer room.
President of the Kings Park Neighborhood Association, Theresa Hugley, says she got emotional seeing the community coming together.
"I tried not to get like this because it is for real, you know? You think something like this you might say is too good to be true, but with God, all things are possible," she says.
District 3 Bibb County commissioner Elaine Lucas says this new center will give people a place to gather, celebrate, and become a stronger community.
