2011 Homicides in Macon

Fifteen people have been killed in homicides in the city of Macon in 2011. Two of those were ruled justifiable homicides.  Three of the cases are unsolved. 

In 2010, 22 homicides were reported in the city.

Here is a list of 2011 homicides in Macon:

Jan. 16: Gary Mimbs, 30, died after a fight at the Whiskey River nightclub. Although his death was ruled a homicide, 31-year-old Jeremy Jackson is charged with involuntary manslaughter after police say he struck Mimbs in the head with his fist.

March 7: Larry Hixon Jr., 27, died from a gunshot wound to the head at the Summit Apartment Complex at 1187 Edna Place Road. No one has been charged.

April 12: Store clerk Gary Bennett Cole, Jr., 38, was shot and killed during a robbery at the Family Dollar store on Houston Avenue. Three men were charged with his murder: Antonio Browner, Quartez Carter and Ron'ejsa Nikwameia Smith.

May 20: Kamika Fleming shot an Americus man, 34-year-old Annthony Williams, after he allegedly came to her house on West Oak Drive and assaulted her. Police ruled it a justifiable homicide.

June 30: The dismembered body of Lauren Giddings, 27, was found in a trash can near her apartment on Georgia Avenue. Her neighbor Stephen McDaniel has been charged with killing her.

July 24: Samuel Pettigrew is charged with killing a father and son, 58-year old Barclay Anthony Sr. and 36-year old son Barclay Anthony, Jr. on Maynard Street in East Macon.

July 25: Alfred Smith, Jr., 35, was shot and killed as he was leaving Wings Cafe on Bloomfield Drive. No one has been charged.

July 29: Anthony Harris, 20, was shot in the stomach at the Whiskey River nightclub on Pio Nono Avenue. Steven Holsey of Warner Robins is charged with shooting him.

Aug. 13: Wendell Ford, Jr., 21, died from a gunshot to the back at 4027 Forest Avenue off Grand Avenue in Macon. No one has been charged.

Aug. 29: A 16-year-old boy, Arquentris Fountain, died two days after he was shot in the head outside a ballroom on Eisenhower Parkway. Robreon Lee, who turned 17 a few days later, was charged with murder.

Oct. 6: Stephen Andropolis Jackson, 28, was fatally shot in the back while standing at the intersection of Ell and Chappell Streets. Police said the shooting was not random. Brandon Morrall was arrested Oct. 21 with the help of a tip through Macon Regional CrimeStoppers.

Oct. 27: Police said Jackie Leon Fort, 50, was shot to death while trying to break into a Pursley Street apartment. Police ruled it a justifiable homicide. Fort was killed by a man who lived in the apartment.

Nov. 16: Michael Dewayne Henderson, 39, was shot in his front yard on Rocky Creek Road. Police said it appeared that his attacker was waiting outside and ambushed him. No one has been charged.
