The second annual Great South Predator and Wild Hog Challenge wrapped up Sunday.
Scurry Outdoor South partnered with Bass Pro Shops to host the event that started just after midnight on Friday.
Fifty-five teams registered to compete in the three day challenge. Teams of two and four were eligible for the no fire arm hunt. The hog and predator hunters pulled in with their catch to weigh in at Bass Pro Shops.
Jeff Scurry, owner of Scurry Outdoor South, says the event is the only one of its kind in Georgia and it grows every year.
"People look for a sport before turkey season and after deer season they still want to get out in the woods and hunt predators and hogs so it's a great opportunity to keep the hunting community involved and give them something to do," says Scurry.
Gerald Pearce says coyotes or predators are becoming a nuisance.
"Now the issue is these coyotes are getting baby fawn, our deer have decreased in the last seven or eight years and I think a lot of it is coyotes." says Pearce.
The team with the heaviest catch in the wild hog division and predator division received a $1000 prize.
