The lawyer for former Bibb Schools interim police chief Stephanie Prater said Thursday she kept the superintendent's leadership team regularly informed about her unit's investigation of a reported rape at Northeast High School.
On Tuesday, Superintendent Romain Dallemand told reporters he had been unaware until Monday -- 11 days after the alleged rape -- that campus police had not turned the investigation over to the Macon Police Department.
Dallemand said he learned that Prater made the decision to keep jurisdiction of the case and he had turned it over to Macon police.
Prater's lawyer Charles Cox told 13WMAZ's Brittiny Barber that Prater reported to the superintendent's leadership team throughout the campus police investigation.
Cox said he believes Prater will be reinstated when all the facts come out. He said Prater is being paid while on administrative leave.
Cox said that, as far as he knows, the district did not conduct an investigation before suspending Prater Tuesday.
Brittiny Barber also spoke to Prater's father at his Lizella home on Thursday.
He said she's been with Bibb County Campus Police for about 15 years. Before that she worked in law enforcement in Baldwin County and in the Air Force.
He says he has no doubt she handled the rape investigation appropriately.
Her father -- who would not give his full name -- said Prater is a professional and ethical person, and nothing she's accused of will hold up. He said she followed district procedure during the investigation.
Macon police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet said police Major Charles Stone met with a prosecutor and a campus police investigator on Wednesday and Thursday to review the case.
Gaudet said the campus police investigative file has to be transcribed because the computer systems of campus police and Macon police were not compatible.
