Sheriff's deputies in Jessamine County, Ky., arrested Macon residents Mark and Michael Buckland last Friday for attempted murder.

The brothers, who are accused of firing at a Kentucky relative as he drove away from his home with a passenger, turned themselves in after authorities conducted an extensive search.

According to Deputy Larry Oliver, the victim was not hit by bullets and did not suffer any serious injuries.

Oliver said the incident stemmed from an argument Wednesday at the Hobby Lobby in Nicholsville, Ky.

"Then it spilled over into gunfire Thursday," he said.

Asked if the incident was a family squabble, Oliver said, "It appears that way."

He would not reveal more because the investigation is still on-going.

The Bucklands were bonded out of jail Friday.

Press Release

Thursday, June 21, 2012 at approximately 1:20 p.m. Deputies from the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office responded to 728 Chinkapin Dr. Nicholasville to a report of gunshots being fired and a male subject with injuries. On arrival at the Chinkapin address, the victim met with deputies and was alert, but did have some non life threatening facial injuries. It appears the victim and a relative were leaving the neighborhood driving a pick up truck, and as they approached the intersection of US 68 and realized numerous shots were being fired at them.

The vehicle in which the victim was driving was struck several times in the drivers side door and the the drivers side window shattered. It appears the victim was struck in his left eye with shrapnel or flying glass. The victim and passenger were seen by Jessamine County EMS and refused transport to the hospital.

It appears the incident stemmed from an on going domestic situation from Wednesday and escalated into the gunfire today. The case is still under investigation at this time. Any further question regarding this case should be forwarded to the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office at (859) 885-9512
