National HIV Testing Day is Today

According to the Centers for Disease Control, an estimated 1.2 million Americans are living with HIV/AIDS.  Of that number, 1 in 5 don't know they have it. 

A recent report by USA Today shows that when it comes to new HIV cases, the South is leading the way. Nearly 50 percent of all new cases are happening in Arkansas, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee,

In Georgia, more than 2,500 people were  living with AIDS in 2010.  That's according to numbers released by the Oconee Center.  Wednesday, the center will offer free HIV testing as part of National HIV Testing Day.
