A 68-year old man was locked up after a drug bust Friday night, but not before a visit to the hospital.

Alton Leon Jackson is charged with probation violation, criminal trespass, criminal damage and cocaine possession.

According to a news release, Macon Police approached a group of men loitering in the parking lot of Liberty Inn off Pio Nono Avenue.

As the officers got closer, each person in the group began to walk away in different directions, except for Jackson who ran.

One officer followed and saw Jackson trying to eat the drugs he carried in his hand. When the officer told him to stop and place his hands behind his back, he refused and began flailing his arms to avoid being handcuffed.

During a struggle to restrain him, police say Jackson jerked away from one officer and fell through the glass window of one of the rooms.

The release says after successfully arresting him, Jackson told the officers he swallowed several pieces of crack cocaine, but spit two pieces out of his mouth.

After being treated for chest pains and the cuts from the shattered glass, police took Jackson to the Bibb County jail. He's being held on an $11,500 bond.
