Now that school is in full effect, so is Operation Stop Arm.

The law requires Georgia drivers to stop whenever school busses are loading and unloading passengers.

Lieutenant Annette Horn, of the Bibb County Sheriff's office, says the fine for violating the law is one-thousand dollars, and an appearance before a judge.  Violators under the age of 21 will have their driver's license revoked.

The law states that all roadways without a divider are under watch.

"A good example would be Hawkinsville Highway or Hawkinsville Road, Mercer University near the mall. These are all areas where there's two lanes on each side and a turning lane, so you have a total of five lanes. All lanes of traffic must stop," says Horn.

The First Lady of Georgia, Sandra Deal, is expected to visit central Georgia on Monday to support the law.
