Students at Wilkinson County Schools are being released early today due to what the superintendent called "an emergency."
Wilkinson County spokesperson Jonathan Jackson says in a news release, "students and faculty were sent home after administration learned of a potential threat made against one of the system's campuses."
Ruth Sapp, secretary to Wilkinson Superintendent Aaron Geter, says he called to say school was being dismissed at 2:15 p.m. but did not have any more information as to why.
Sapp says they have no way to alert parents because there is a malfunction with the parent notification system.
