This weekend, the Jewish community will celebrate Rosh Hashanah.  The celebration is centuries old and holds a special meaning for both young and old.

Rosi and Adam Poku ring in the day with a blow of the shofar.  Rosi says, "It's like a ram's horn and it symbolizes that the new year is starting and they blow into it.  It's like blowing into a trumpet sort of.  I learned how to blow into it two years ago."

Like any other holiday, Rosh Hashanah means treats like apples dipped honey and time off from work and school, but it's about tradition.  Rosi says,  "We'll probably be sitting somewhere in here (temple) and listening to the rabbi and reading along.  But then, for part of it, I actually get to go up with a couple of other kids and read stuff."

Rosi and Adam both say the holiday is about enjoying the tradition of the past while celebrating a fresh start to a new year.  Rosh Hashanah starts at sundown on Sunday.
