The Medical Center of Central Georgia put on its ninth annual men's health fair at Central Georgia Technical College.

Organizers estimate around 250 people showed up for various screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol and cancer screenings.

They also had seminars on issues like heart health, diabetes, and HIV-AIDS.

Health Educator with the Medical Center, Charles Krauss says they want to educate the public and provide free screenings.

"Sometimes people come here because they don't have insurance to pay for a doctor.  We want to provide this service for the community," Krauss said.

It's all aimed at arming men with the knowledge they need to head off common health disasters.

"They gave me some understanding of my health conditions my glucose, my blood pressure, my vision. It gives me further knowledge of what I need to be watching out for," Andre Goodson said.

"When you know what the problems are then you can deal with them," Keith Williams said.

"It's very important that all men come and get tested because we never know," Willmond Hurt said.

The men's health fair is one of about four or five each year that target different segments of the population.
