Some tenants at a west Macon complex might be see change.

According to HUD spokesman, Joseph Phillips, federal inspectors are scheduled to visit the apartments Thursday.

We first brought you the story of conditions at the Macon Garden Apartments a few weeks ago.

Some tenants say things started to improve when our second story aired. 

Ambling Management Company is based in Valdosta but manages Macon Gardens Apartment in west Macon. The complex is a HUD Section 8 subsidized housing complex for low-income tenants. 

Tenants say the improvements are finally here.

"After the second time y'all came, the very next day there was people on the property walking in different apartments inspecting. Shortly after that they had ambling associates, workers out here. They're all out here working now," says 29-year-old Kristi Yaughn.

Mother of two, Stephanie Davis,  adds, "They just filled in the potholes and threw hay out. That's it really. They're starting to put up windows in the abandoned apartments."

Some tenants live in cockroach infested homes and under ceilings that rain toilet water.

Phillips says a federal inspector will stop by the complex Thursday to randomly select apartments to inspect. The report will be based on cleanliness and the quality of life. But some tenants are still have their doubts.

"They're just trying to put a front on for everybody," says Davis.

"I don't think it's going to happen. I think they're really just trying to pass inspection," says Yaughn.

Others hope for lasting change.

"They're trying to get things taken care of. Thumbs up to them because it's long been overdue," says long-time tenant Stephanie Coker.

"I hope this is a wake-up call," says Pat Gregory, who has lived at the apartments for two years.
