Judge William Self of the Bibb County Probate Court swore in Kirby Godsey as the new Macon Water Authority chairman. Godsey fills the spot vacated after the death of former chair Frank Amerson.
In a release, the MWA explained when a vacancy happens among the elected seats on the Board of the Authority, and there are more than 120 days before the next general election, a judge appoints a person to serve until the election.
The special election is set for Novemeber 5, 2013.
Godsey is former President and CEO of Mercer University. He still serves as chancellor and as a professor there.
