Austin officers watch daughter of cop killed in line of duty graduate

AUSTIN - Fourteen months before he was killed, Austin Police Department Officer Clinton Hunter brought his 2-year-old daughter to his graduation from the Austin Police Academy.

Now, that daughter is graduating from high school. And she got some special visitors at her ceremony.

In 2001, during a chase on Interstate 35, Officer Hunter was killed by a suspect.

In these photos provided to KVUE, Hunter is seen holding his young daughter, Mikayla, along with his wife, Colleen.

Officers with APD told KVUE they want Mikayla and her mom to know they have not been forgotten. So when they found out Mikayla was graduating from Cedar Park High School on Saturday, they decided to show that sentiment.

Nearly a dozen Austin police officers watched her walk across the stage during the ceremony. Photos provided to KVUE capture the officers embracing Mikayla.
