Bibb Commission votes 'no' on voluntary drug tests of public officials

But they can request

Bibb commissioners shot down a resolution Tuesday that proposed voluntary drug tests from all elected and appointed Bibb officials.

The county attorney told the commissioners they cannot require county employees to take a voluntary drug test, but they can request it.

Human resources director Ben Hubbard also told the commissioners the costs of drug tests for county employees would be covered if they chose to request them.

The resolution's sponsor, Joe Allen, and Elaine Lucas were the only votes in favor.
