Bibb sheriff: Man admits lying about 'clown shooting'

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says a man admitted he lied when he told officers he was shot by clowns early Thursday.

Around 6 a.m., Marvin Cooper III, 24, said someone shot him as he walked through Alphabet City (Murphy Homes).

He said some clowns jumped out of a vehicle, which he could not describe, and started shooting.

According to a news release, after being questioned by officers, Cooper admitted lying.'He said he was actually shot by a man who'd asked him if he had any drugs.

Cooper said he was shot after he responded no and turned away. Cooper could not say where the shooting happened or describe the man.

Cooper is in stable condition at a Macon hospital.
