From elementary to high school, for the past 10 weeks, we've brought you our 'My Teacher is Tops' winners from across Central Georgia.
Junior Journalist Samantha Walton stopped by Bleckley County Primary School on "pajama day," the very last day of the school year, where she found Laura Bowen doing what she does best: teaching.
Students said she was kind, rewarded them for hard work and that they loved her.
Bowen has been teaching 2nd grade math for 30 years. She's even been Teacher of the Year.
Parents say she uses hands-on activities to keep her students engaged.
"They would have a clock that would help choose their groups, and so she would rotate. They weren't always with the same children, which gave them more socialization time, interaction with other kids, and they would do actual hands-on math activities," Kandi Lucas, a 2nd grade teacher and the mother of one of Bowen's former student.
"It feels wonderful. It's a great feeling to know that I have made a difference in their life, and that means the world to me because I'm certainly not in it for the money. I'm in it because I love children and it's a just an honor. I can't believe it," Bowen said.
Bowen is this year's last "My Teacher is Tops" winner, but you can still send us your letters so we can surprise your teacher in 2014.
