Bogus 911 calls of clown sightings land two people behind bars in west Ga.

TROUP COUNTY - Two people were arrested after making false 911 calls of clown sightings in Hogansville.

Sgt. Stewart Smith with Troup County Sheriff's Office says on Wednesday deputies were dispatched to the area of 3483 Hammett Road for a report of a person dressed as a clown and standing outside of a van.

Once on scene, deputies spoke with the driver who told them he ran out of gas. Deputies searched the vehicle and found no evidence of a clown costume. So they circled back and contacted the person who made the initial complaint, Brandon Jerome Moody. The 26-year-old confessed that he did not see any clowns and was aware of the recent clown complaints and schools being on lockdown as a result.
