Boil water advisory lifted in Hawkinsville

The city of Hawkinsville is no longer under a boil water advisory, according to city manager Tim Young.

Young says they received word from the laboratory in Cordele that the water samples are safe to drink around noon.

A boil water advisory was put into place after a break in a 12-inch pipe was found on Sunday near Pulaski State Prison.

The repair was completed early Monday morning, but the advisory was put into effect while crews ensured the water was safe to drink.

Young said he immediately notified area nursing homes, the hospital, and the prison that the water was safe to drink.
