Less than a year after Brooklyn Rouse was shot in the head, she was honored for her heroism Sunday at New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
The 22-year-old was shot in the head and neck last December when she was delivering pizza.
Rouse says she's 90 percent better than she was last year and is on track to continue making incredible progress.
That progress was recognized as Deacon Wallace Adside awarded Rouse with a scholarship for her heroism.
"It's a nice gesture to know that people are thinking about you and praying for you and rooting for you behind the scenes,” said Rouse. “People that you don't even know, you know it's just a really nice thing I feel like."
Rouse says right now her two main goals are to start driving again and to get back in school.
She hopes to accomplish both next year.
