Casey Cagle campaigns in Macon

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle brought his gubernatorial campaign to Macon Tuesday and promised to bring 500,000 jobs to Georgia during his first four-year term as governor.

Cagle said he'll accomplish that by helping existing companies grow, recruiting new industries to the state and grow new technology needed for the 21st Century.

"The first four years of my administration, I will work and I will go near and far to get 500,000 jobs here to our state," Cagle said. "It's something that all of us are committed to within the administration, the Cagle administration."

He made the remarks during a visit to the Bibb Recreation Center that's under construction at 7035 Houston Road in South Bibb County.

Cagle has served as lieutenant governor since 2006. He's the third Republican to announce their candidacies for governor in the 2018 campaign. Gov. Nathan Deal is serving his second consecutive four-year term and can't seek re-election.

The other announced GOP gubernatorial candidates are Secretary of State Brian Kemp and state Sen. Hunter Hill.
