Central Ga. groups plan events to show support for Charlottesville

People all across the nation are coming together through rallies and vigils to show their solidarity with the city and people of Charlottesville, Virginia, after protests turned violent over the weekend.

On Monday night, a vigil will be held in Macon’s Rosa Parks Square from 6:30-8 p.m.

The group Macon Unity is sponsoring a Stand with Charlottesville Walk where representatives from various social justice and faith groups will be gathering to march against white supremacy.

They're asking that everyone interested in joining in on the march come with the theme of "peace" in mind.

They say signs are allowed, but must be anti-violence based.

Speakers will open up the march, then walk to the Tubman Museum in solidarity and silence for the closing vigil.

A similar rally sponsored by Middle Georgia Progressive Women will be held Tuesday at Georgia College’s free speech zone in Milledgeville at 7 p.m. More information is available here.
