Child one of two victims in fatal Eatonton crash

Georgia State Patrol says a nine year-old girl is one of two who are dead after a crash in Eatonton, Georgia on Wednesday.

Officers say around 4:55 p.m., Jakeda Ellison, 37, of Eatonton was driving east on Imperial Mill Road in a 2013 Toyota Corolla, when she failed to yield to a Chevrolet Silverado. The truck was traveling north on the State Route 24 Bypass.

The front of the Silverado struck the passenger side of the Corolla, causing both vehicles to run off the road.

Jakeda Ellison's nine year old daughter, Shamaylaka Ellison, was in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jackeda Ellison was pronounced dead at Putnam General Hospital.

No update has been given yet on the condition of the Silverado driver, Cathy Harwood, 62, of Eatonton.
