Clerk injured during Macon convenience store robbery

The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery of a gas station convenience store Tuesday morning.

According to a news release, an employee told deputies that he was outside the Gulf Store on Napier Avenue around 10 a.m. when two men came up to him.

They forced him into the store at gunpoint and demanded money.

After receiving the money, the suspects ran away.

The release says a nearby deputy pulled up to the store as one of the suspects ran from the front door.

After a foot chase, the deputy lost sight of the suspect.

A detailed description of both suspects was not available.

The employee was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects and was taken to Coliseum Northside for a non-life threatening head injury.

Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
