Macon construction workers track down accused thief

Two construction workers called the police after arriving at their current construction site on Wednesday morning and noticing some of their materials had been stolen overnight, according to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office incident report.

Russell Magoon and John Page had been working on a building on Craft Street for about four months.

When they arrived Wednesday morning, they noticed that two ladders and drop cords were missing from the site.

The building is surrounded by a six-foot chain link fence with a padlock, which the responding deputy says had been damaged and broken when he arrived.

While working on the site on Wednesday, one of the men noticed a truck that appeared to have the stolen materials hanging from the back.

The men followed the truck to the Pawn Max on Pio Nono Avenue and confronted the two men in the truck. When one of the construction workers stated that he was calling the Sheriff's office, the passenger, Marlowe Jermain Jackson Sr. ran away.

Later that day, the deputy spotted Jackson and chased him down.

He remained in Bibb County jail Friday evening.
