Cook Out planning to open in Macon's former JL's Bar-B-Q site

The former JL's Bar-B-Q restaurant in Macon has been closed for about a year.

A new tenant is planning to move in and get things cooking again in the location on Brookhaven Road off of Eisenhower Parkway.

Cook Out restaurant - known for its burgers, shakes and barbecue - is planning to open in the building.

Bibb County commissioners will be discussing Tuesday a resolution to grant an encroachment to Cook Out totaling 7,599 square feet of property for the fair market value of $59,842, according to a commission agenda.

The Greensboro, North Carolina-based chain opened for business in 1989. They've since opened dozens of restaurants in Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi and several other states

Cook Out operates two central Georgia locations - 1893 N. Columbia St., Milledgeville and 113 Russell Parkway, Warner Robins.
