Vienna Volunteer Fire Department won $10,000 for their firehouse in a national contest.
They were named a Grand Prize winner in Johnsonville Sausage's "Best of U.S." contest for volunteer firehouses after the company invited the public to vote online for the best firehouses in the U.S.
They are one of ten grand prize winners in the "Best of US" contest, according to a release.
Assistant Chief Mike Shurley says they plan to give some of that prize money to three different charities and he also expects some of that money to help build a new fire station.
They won $10,000 to use "toward the firehouse or community."
Vienna's fire department earned their prize through a voting process, where the public was invited to vote for the best firehouses in the U.S. Other grand prize winners are in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and more.
VVFD is staffed by 25 state certified firefighters and has an ISO Class 4 rating - outstanding for a 100% volunteer organization.
