18-wheeler trucks collide on I-16

One tractor trailer truck caught fire and another overturned after a collision on Interstate 16 West in Laurens County Monday morning.

It happened before 7 a.m. near mile marker 58.

Officer Chad Harrison of the Georgia State Patrol in Dublin says it happened after one truck suffered a tire blowout and slowed down. He said it was struck from behind by the second truck.

The first truck swerved to the median strip and flipped. The other caught on fire. He said the two drivers were taken to a hospital, but neither was seriously injured.

The wreck shut down one lane of I-16 west for a couple hours, but traffic was back to normal before noon.
