Dublin teens' bond hearing delayed

Two Laurens County teenagers accused of murdering a man in his home last month had their bond hearing delayed.

They were slated to appear in court today, but it was "delayed based on other things going on in the case," lead prosecutor Brandon Faircloth says.

The pair -- a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl -- are accused of killing Curtis Ray Beck, age 67.

They say he was found dead on May 11 at his home on Turkey Creek Church Road.

That's off Highway 441 South in south Laurens County.

The sheriff says they arrested the two teenagers the next day: Dustin Sage Mitchell, age 17, and Mercedes Toledo, age 15. The two will be tried as adults.

Toledo's defense asked for a continuance in order to "secure additional witnesses," Faircloth says.

The sheriff's department says they are both charged with murder, burglary, robbery and theft by taking.

They are scheduled to appear at a bond hearing where prosecutors may be asked to describe evidence against them.
