Forsyth has named its new police chief. He is Eddie Harris. He's been serving as interim chief since December 2015 when former Chief Keith Corley resigned.
Harris was sworn in as the new chief at Tuesday's city council meeting.
Forsyth Mayor Eric Wilson says Harris was chosen out of 27 applicants by Forsyth City Manager Janice Hall. Harris has served with the police department for 32 years.
"He has worked his way up. Started as a patrol sergeant, to major, to major over the patrol division and now chief. I think he has the experience and knowledge Forsyth needs," said Wilson.
Wilson adds that Harris knows the police department employees and officers and has a great rapport with the community.
