Family-owned grocer, sausage maker to open new Perry location

Cordele-based Stripling's General Store, known for its sausage, is opening in Perry.

It's a family-owned general store built largely on its reputation of making great sausage and now they're moving to Perry.

Cordele-based Stripling's General Store is hoping to have its Perry location open in January 2018. Ground has already been broken at the location directly across from the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter.

Founded in 1964, Stripling's motto: "You Never Sausage a Place."

While sausage is the backbone of Stripling's, they also offer an array of specialty items including award-winning pork and beef jerky, jams, jellies, salad dressings, sauces and seasonings.

The 12,000-square-foot Perry store will be similar to Stripling's flagship store on Hwy. 300 in Cordele. The general store also operates smaller locations - another in Cordele and one in Bogart.

While it was officially founded in 1964, Stripling's started 50 years prior in Warwick, Ga. when native James Stripling’s passion for pork led him to develop Stripling’s Sausage recipe.

That same recipe continues to be the cornerstone for the business which is now operated by Stripling's nephew, Ricky Hardin.

"We are beyond excited about the new location and getting to know the people of Perry and the surrounding area,” said Ashley Goss, Hardin’s daughter and Marketing Officer of Stripling’s. “My family and I are fortunate and eager to continue the Stripling’s tradition and expand into such a wonderful community."
