Family repairs headstones, landscapes vandalized Bibb cemetery

One family fixed several grave sites after hearing that their grandparents' graves had been vandalized.

A family cleaned several graves at a Macon cemetery this past weekend after they found out some of their family members' graves were vandalized.

Last month, a viewer sent us photos of grave sites at Evergreen Cemetery, apparently vandalized.

Kelly Cannon Newsom says her grandparents’ graves were some of the ones vandalized in the cemetery on Houston Avenue. She says she was very sad and bothered that someone would do that.

Her sisters Cheryl and Kim arranged a family group text where they all agreed to meet 2 p.m. Sunday to fix their grandparents' graves.

They originally went to fix two grave sites, but ended up fixing surrounding ones that had been vandalized.

Newsom says they worked on fixing and cleaning the headstones as well as landscaping, like removing weeds and mowing the grass around the graves.
