Firefighter climbs 110 flights of stairs at Milledgeville gym in honor of September 11th

15 years after 9/11, Baldwin County firefighter Mike Dyer, climbed 110 flights of stairs at a gym in full uniform.

He showed up to Bodyplex Fitness in Milledgeville and took to the stair climber machine to honor the first responders who lost their lives 15 years ago on September 11, 2001.

Dyer says he was living just outside of Manhattan during the terrorist attack and was inspired to become a firefighter after the catastrophe.

According to Dyer, the firemen who entered the twin towers on September 11th started on the ground floor and had to climb 110 flights of stairs to pull people from the buildings.

He trained at Bodyplex for 3 months to climb all 110 flights, and says he hopes this small action is inspirational to people everywhere.

"It's 15 years later and we have a lot of chaos going on right now. On that one day 15 years ago there was no color, no religion... everybody was there for each other... it didn't matter where you went across the country or the world... and we have to remember that... especially now," says Dyer.

Next year Dyer says he hopes to enter the "Tunnel to Towers Run" in Manhattan, which represents the first responders who ran through traffic in full gear on September 11, 2001 to get to the Twin Towers.
