Upson County couple wounded outside home

A man shot and wounded an Upson County couple outside their home Monday night.

A news release from Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore said it happened around 8:15 p.m. on the 300 block of Pleasant Grove Road in Yatesville. That's near the Upson-Monroe county line, about 35 miles northwest of Macon.

The sheriff's department says James Reeves, age 77, and Linda Reeves, age 71, were returning home at the back door of their home.

They were attacked from behind by a man wearing dark clothing.

The man reportedly shot the couple, then ran off.

James Reeves had a gunshot wound to the left side of his head and another to his right shoulder and chest. His wife was wounded in her left shoulder.

They were both treated at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

The couple owns the Garden Patch store in Barnesville. An employee there said the couple is now at home and recovering.

The GBI was called to help investigate the crime scene.

Several agencies helped search for the shooter, using bloodhounds and helicopters.

Anyone with information on the case can call the Upson County Sheriff's Department at (706) 646-7904 or (706) 646-7902.
