With the latest inmate escape this weekend, several of our viewers commented about the high volume of recent escapees in our area.

Here are the latest:

  • John Leonardi

Leonardi is an inmate at Carroll County Prison in west Georgia who escaped from a work detail July 29.

About 12 hours later, Leonardi was captured on I-75N in Jackson.

  • Walter Eller

Eller walked away from his detail at a chicken coop in Montgomery County on July 16.

The inmate is back in custody after an elementary school teacher tracked him down.

  • Matthew Pippin

Pippin escaped from the Monroe County jail on July 13 during a work detail.

A few hours later, Pippin was back in custody, according to a Monroe County Sheriff's Office news release.

  • Ricky Dubose and Donnie Rowe

On the morning of June 13, law enforcement officers were dispatched to Highway 16 in Putnam County, after Dubose and Rowe allegedly shot and killed two Georgia Department of Corrections officers during a routine bus transport.

On June 13, police took the duo into custody in Bedford County, Tennessee.

Aside from escapes in the middle Georgia area, there have been over a dozen escapes statewide this year.
