Trial for former APS educators begins in April

The trial of 13 former Atlanta Public Schools educators accused in a cheating scandal will begin earlier than expected.

During a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, the judge said jury selection will start April 28.

Among those to be tried is former APS superintendent Beverly Hall. Hall's attorneys told the judge that Hall is sick with Stage IV breast cancer and was hospitalized over the weekend. They are concerned she may not survive until jury selection.

So far, the case has cost taxpayers more than $1 million.
